We are Voulhire: The Ascension of Akistry by Matthew Tysz
I started reading this
book because of its title. The title really appealed to me so much to read
this. But let me be brutally honest here, this is so not worthy of the time
that I devoted reading it. I always thought that every book has something to
teach you. It is still true because I did learn a few lessons from it. But I
read it for free. And I really do not see any point paying for this book for
those one-two lessons which we anyway get in our daily life. The point is the
book overall is not worthy of time and money being given for it.
Well, I can definitely
say that the book starts nicely. One will really like the start. You try to
understand the plot. But within the first few chapters, you will become bore of
the way the author presents the character. Actually, the author has presented
everything in such a way that becomes so confusing for the reader.
Let me point one major
flaw of the book which is editing problems. The least which you can expect from
a book is flawless grammar. I am disappointed in this context. I found a few
grammatical mistakes which seriously do not make a good image in front of the
reader. Plus, the figure of speech used by the author is also kind of not
reader-friendly, which I again think of as an editing problem.
At one point, I
actually thought of giving up on reading this book but I had this urge to know
the exact end of it. The plot of the book is not so clear. The author
introduces different characters in different chapters that have no solid
connection with each other. It is like when starting the book you think this is
how the author is just giving an introduction of different casts of the story.
But the author actually presents the conversation among the casts in that way.
Moving towards the end,
you will have some idea what exactly is happening and you will get the exact
overall plot of the story. And then you will understand and may start enjoying,
provided you adapted yourself to the way the author presents discussion among the
characters. And once you completed kind of one-third of the book, the plot will
surely hold you together and you will be able to complete the book.
Overall, the start is
good and the end is nice too, which makes it clear that the overall storyline is
attractive. It is just the struggle in the middle chapters of the story that
will just force you to stop reading the book.
